ZooMoo (Astro Channel 619) New Series – ‘Flash’

I enjoy bringing the 2 girls to kid’s event because I find it interesting and good for their exploration. During the previous school holiday, I brought them to ZooMoo event which was held at Sunway Putra Mall. ZooMoo is no stranger to Astro subscriber as we could view it on Channel 619.
ZooMoo explores the animal world in ways that are entertaining, interactive and enriching, sparking in kids a love for animals. ZooMoo is a collaboration between some of the world’s foremost wildlife filmmakers and world renowned early childhood educationalists from the University of Otago, New Zealand’s premier university. Together, they have created a powerful package: a catalyst for learning that engages both children and their parents.
Using the free ZooMoo App, kids can unlock animals and games from the broadcast and add them to ZooMoo Island on their tablet. To explore the animal world in ways that are entertaining, interactive and enriching; to create a safe environment to stimulate young minds and bodies. A cast of funny, furry characters help preschoolers develop a knowledge and affection for animals, leading to a lifelong love of conservation.
All around the world, parents agonize over finding suitable programming for their pre-schoolers. Parents are both the gatekeepers of the channel and a catalyst for their children’s learning. ZooMoo encourages parental co-viewing by making shows that are fun and informative for all ages. And when the television is off, the ZooMoo App on a second screen enhances and expands the child’s fascination, while the App’s Parent Page offers personalised support for things parents can do with their children to help their learning. We aim to make parents proud of their kids watching ZooMoo.
The ZooMoo program lineup comprises short form and long form shows which combine spectacular wildlife footage with a range of puppetry, animations, and narrative techniques to create a unique viewing and learning experience for little viewers.

The revolutionary ZooMoo Second Screen app opens a world of interactive activities, where the tablet becomes an extension of the television screen, enhancing the viewing experience.
Children and parents engage in a world of games, music, puzzles and activities - a concept wholeheartedly approved by world- leading educationalists.
With production studios in Singapore, Dunedin NZ and Sao Paulo, Brazil, ZooMoo has a wealth of International talent contributing to this unique channel. Together, they have created a powerful package – a catalyst for learning that engages both children and their parents.
The free ZooMoo App is available for download from popular App stores. It is designed to work alongside the ZooMoo channel to extend and reinforce children's learning about, and love for, the animal world. It does this by providing children with ZooMoo Island - an animal sanctuary where they can interact with and look after up to 150 animals.
The app works as a stand alone experience, where children can feed and look after animals, pose them for photos, watch video clips and learn each animals name and how common or rare they are. Experimentation and fun is encouraged so that children can learn at their own pace, and in their own way. After the initial app download, no Internet connection is required. The app is also totally free with no in-app purchases or advertising.
The revolutionary ZooMoo app is synchronized to the broadcast, thanks to an acoustic watermark (inaudible to our ears, but easily detected by the microphone on the tablet). This remarkable technology transforms ZooMoo from a channel, into a gateway to an interactive world of ZooMoo Island!
When the ZooMoo app is turned on, the channel sends original and complimentary content to the child’s tablet. This content can be opened and explored at any time by the child and parent. The app requires no Wifi or Internet connection, it is free and available for both mac and android systems.
Unlike other TV channels, the App and the ZooMoo channel were developed completely in tandem. By providing a simple fun mechanism for the viewers to collect all the wonderful animals they see on the channel, the App opens the doors to many additional entertainment and learning opportunities.

For Children: Collecting treasure on the ZooMoo app is exciting! It enhances the viewing experience without distracting from it. And, after the show has finished, the fun continues with a treasure trove of activities for both children and parents.

For Parents: The ZooMoo Educational Advisory panel identified five conceptual elements as key learning ingredients for preschoolers.

The ZooMoo app targets all five ingredients:
• Teamwork
(socialization and belonging)
• Solving problems
(creative thinking)
• Overcoming obstacles
(confidence and will to succeed)
• Patterns and relational learning
(organizing and storing information)
• Questions and discussion
(reinforcing experiences)

Last but not least, they also introduced ZooMoo’s New Series: ‘Lost’
Flash is a wildlife photographer with a passion for animals, an unshakable sense of adventure and little sense of direction. Each hairraising 11 minute episode of Lost! sees Flash missing somewhere in the world and facing dire peril. As the clock ticks and the danger mounts, Flash’s devoted friends; Owl and Piglet, must race to save him before it’s too late. Using their unique skill-sets to discover clues to Flash’s location from the natural world - plus an array of high tech gadgets, each dramatic rescue comes down to the wire before its triumphant final resolution. Dramatic story arcs, remarkable wildlife footage, ingenious use of CGI animation and engaging characters make Lost! a must-see for children and parents alike.
